01Context
The Senegal River basin, shared among four countries, must anticipate its needs by 2050.
The revision of the SDAGE aimed to update the diagnostic and management orientations.
02Challenges
Mobilising and securing the resource sustainably requires precise knowledge of its geometry, productivity and quality.
The challenge was to enhance the reliability of decisions by reducing hydrogeological uncertainties.
03Mission objectives
- Establish the diagnostic assessment of water resources
- Revise sectoral schemes
- Update the territorial planning master plan
- Develop management plans (PGE, PLGIRE)
04Services delivered by EAU-GEF
- State of play and resource diagnostic
- Revision of sectoral schemes
- Contribution to SDAGE phases
- Development of management plans
05Approach & methodology
The approach combined literature review, field investigations, geophysics and hydrogeological interpretation to clarify the functioning of the system.
The results were spatialised to objectify decisions and guide facilities.
06Results & added value
The mission provided the contracting authority with a solid and substantiated basis for the management and sustainable mobilisation of the resource.
It demonstrates EAU-GEF's expertise across the entire hydrogeological study chain.
